A tax collector is employed by the Crown and is responsible for collecting tax from all citizens in Paris. Discipline is required for any who seek this position as you will often be treated with loathing from those who are unwilling to pay

The tax system is something that citizens often are confused with. So you may be required to explain to them the different commands and how they see what they owe

When
a citizen exceeds the amount of time they have to pay their taxes, they show up on your TAXABLE list. During the time before their bill is due to be paid, you can collect those taxes and clear their bill for the month

Tax Collectors strive to see that everyone pays before they show up on the taxable list. In doing this, you may be approached by a citizen at any given time to take their taxes. You must always make yourself accessible to take taxes

Protocol for taking taxes varies for each collector. The first thing you do is check the TAXABLE list to be sure that the person isn't overdue. If they are, post on the BB in the AnteChamber that you collected. |

Ask them how much they owe. They can find this number under FINANCES in the last line. The amount they give you is in LIVRES which must be converted to LOUIS D'ORS. Simply divide the number they give you by 12 |

You now tell them how many LOUIS D'ORS they need to give you.
IE if they owe 3000 livres, they would need to hand you 250 Louis D'ors. |

Once you have their money, clear their debt by using the UNTAX command |

When you UNTAX someone, the amount of money they give you is added to your own tax bill. This is to ensure that the money actually makes it back to the Crown. To pay off those taxes, go NORTH and EAST from the Counsellor’s Chamber of the Louvre into the AnteChamber where you'll then DEPOSIT the collected taxes |

The money you collect from the time you UNTAX someone is your responsibility. If you die and drop all of the money or spend it, you'll have to suffer an enormous tax bill. So be responsible |

You will be given assignments. Assignments are posted on the BB in the AnteChamber at any given time. You'll be given a name of an overdue person. Your job is to see that their taxes are paid |

The days overdue on the taxes are posted on the TAXABLE list. You are to issue a WARNING to them every TEN days. If they are not paid ten days after the third warning, you then give their name and details of when they were warned to a magistrate so they can be charged in court. Also message the Principal Tax Collector when this has been done so it can be recorded

Use this warning ONLY:
Your taxes of (amount) livres is (number) days overdue. This is your (first, second, third) of three (3) warnings before legal action is taken. If there is a problem paying, please MSG KINCLA and payments will be arranged.
IE Your taxes of 3000 livres is 20 days overdue. This is your second of three (3) warnings before legal action is taken. If there is a problem paying, please MSG KINCLA and payments will be arranged |

These warnings are to be MSG'd to the person so that they are not afk while you warn them, or miss the tell or say. Once you send the warning, post on the BB in the AnteChamber the PERSON you warned, the AMOUNT THEY OWE, and the DAYS OVERDUE they are. This will be recorded by the Principal Tax Collector to ensure that you are doing your job. |
