Commands

The commands that Judges need to know in order to do the job properly.

ALL crimes brought to a Judge's attention will be investigated thoroughly before proceeding.

CHARGING
Where In the Courthouse from either The Courtroom or in the Judge's Private Study
Charge {person} {crime} In cases of Murder or Assault this should include the Victim’s name. You then will be sent into a sub-system like the BB. You will be prompted to enter a brief description of the crime. This should always include the location of the attack, date and time if it’s known, any cause known for the attack, the number of witnesses and exactly what happened. The brief should NOT include the name of the Accused, they are simply referred to as The Accused. The Victim would be called by name, UNLESS they are controversial and you feel that stating their name would bias the case. The Witnesses can be named if they wish. If they do not want to give their names, they are not required to and are referred to as The Witness(es). Be sure to state only the facts, do not include personal information such as Regiments or past criminal convictions.Remember, when you are writing this, YOU are the prosecution and trying to get the Accused locked up! Try to keep it IC, giving it a zest to make it interesting, convince the voting Judges that the Accused is guilty. You are NOT the Defense, you don’t want to help them. Although, you DO need to be sure they know how to use the system. To end and save your brief type *X, just like in the BB. If you make a mistake and want to abort, then use *Q and start again
I.E. Charge Joe Murder of John
TESTIMONIES AND EVIDENCE
Where In the Courthouse from The Courtroom
Testify Case{case number} Once the case has been Charged, you have approximately 3RL days to gather all your information and TRY the case. If it’s not completed before that time, it will expire and cannot be remade. Your next step is to get all of your witnesses to the Courthouse to testify. The Victim canNOT testify – THEY ARE DEAD! It is YOUR job to ensure that they testify correctly. If they do not, it’s YOUR case that is erroneous and may need to be thrown out. Explain to them how to testify and remind them not to use the Accused’s name, as well as the *X and *Q commands. You must provide them with the case number and remind them of the syntax for the testify command, from there they are sent into a sub-system allowing them to write their testimonies
I.E. Testify Case1234
Evidence Case Once you have all your witnesses’ testimonies, you need to look over your case. This will show you your brief and two (2) lists of evidence. One for the Defence and one for the Prosecution
I.E. Evidence Case1234
Evidence Evidence{evidence number} Used to look at the evidence which you’ll find listed in the Brief when you type EVIDENCE CASE. Remember, you won’t be able to view the Defence evidence until the case is on trial
I.E. Evidence Evidence5678
DISMISSING OR TRYING A CASE
Where In the Courthouse from either The Courtroom or in the Judge's Private Study
Dismiss Case{case number} At this point, if any problems are spotted with the case it can be dismissed. It must be BEFORE the case is tried. Afterwards, nothing can be done. If a case is dismissed you’ll have to start over from the beginning or lose the case altogether. When you dismiss a case you must message BOTH Chief Judges with the case number and the reason for the dismissal. Once you’ve tried it, you will be given a time in AOTT hours before it proceeds to Trial. This delay is given so the Defence has time to Testify. They can Testify after it is Tried, Prosecution cannot
I.E. Dismiss Case1234
Try Case{case number} If the case is okay and there are no errors, the next step is to TRY the case
I.E. Try Case1234
SENTENCING
Where In the Courthouse from either The Courtroom or in the Judge's Private Study
Reassign Case{number} {chief judge} If you feel that Execution can even be considered, you then must reassign the case to a Chief Judge. Only they can issue it as a punishment. You must send a message to BOTH Chief Judges explaining WHY you have reassigned it and any information you feel is important to the Sentencing
I.E. Reassign Case1234 Garek
I.E. Reassign Case1234 Willow
Sentence Case{case number} Stocks {time in hours} If the punishment is Stockade and is suitable to this case. The Stockade sentences issued through the Charging system are NOT releasable and can be up to 75 AOTT hours. After you have issued the Stock sentence you need to post in the Court BB. Include the Case number, the Accused’s name, the fact that it was guilty and how many hours that they were sentenced to
I.E. Sentence Case1234 Stocks 48
Sentence Case{case number} Jail Using this issues a Bastille sentence and will put you into a sub-system where you'll be prompted to enter each loss individually. The losses are as follows:
The first will be the length of time of the sentence and this should be given in days. The minimum stay in the Bastille is seven (7) days
Next will be Experience loss. The maximum amount you can take will be shown to you in brackets. This will be dependant on the seriousness of the crimes and past convictions
Next is the Social Point loss. For this you need to take into consideration the social implications of the crime. The SP loss normally ranges from 100-25000.
You will then be asked for the amount of Livres for people to visit the criminal in the Bastille. The more serious the crime, the higher the Livres should be to visit. This normally ranges from 10 livres to a maximum amount which the system will inform you of if you go over it
You’ll then come out of the sub-system and the case will be ready. You will then need to post on the Court BB that the case was Guilty, the case number, Accused’s name, time in the Bastille, XP loss, SP loss and Livres to visit
I.E. Sentence Case1234 Jail
VOTING
Where In the Courthouse from either The Courtroom or in the Judge's Private Study
Vote Case{number} {guilty or not guilty} Once you have made your decision upon reading the evidence, you will need to vote on the case. It takes two (2) votes of Guilty or Not Guilty to decide the case
I.E. Vote Case1234 Guilty
I.E. Vote Case1234 Not Guilty
